My work is divided right now into speaking about too much screentime, and the opposite- the issues of a child who doesn’t have access to a screen.
Both sides have knock on effects for a child’s learning now and in the future.
Both sides affect the skills a child will develop.
Both sides affect the social skills a child will develop.
Managing this effectively as parents, educators and adults is really important right now. How we guide children’s screen time has to allow them maximum opportunity to live well in their world. We can’t assume that the decisions that we thought were best 5 years ago are still the best decisions for children.
