It’s called ‘social engineering’ and was already on the rise, before the coronavirus lockdown led to millions more people sharing their personal information online.
The details on everything from your job, health issues, location and personal history are providing scammers a treasure trove to steal your identity.

Spear Phishing – scam emails targeted at a particular person
Baiting – including malware in downloads of free music or shows
Quid Pro Quo – similar to baiting, the promise of a service in return for info
Mirror Sites – fake websites that look real asking for your info
Pre-texting – where the scammer uses a false ID to gain your trust
