Is 3 hours of screentime too much for a child in lockdown?

Is 3 hours of screentime too much for a child in lockdown? If they’re just watching their screen passively for 3 hours then yes. If it's 3 hours of passive viewing everyday, then it could be a problem

There's not much to do in lockdown so shift up their screen use so that it actually has a good effect on them.

Less passive and more quality use.

  • Watching a craft video and making the craft at the same time,

  • Doing experiments using a science app,

  • Making up new dance steps to a music video,

  • Using their device to film the day in the life of your pet dog.

These are great screen activities because your child is physically active and mentally active. That's the kind of use we want children to make of technology.

What's even better is if you join in on these activities with them sometimes. That means less time on their device alone and more parental 'technology' engagement.

Technology is not good or bad for kids, it's all about how they use it and who they use it with.
